GOMPHIDIUS MACULATUS

CAP: 3 - 7 cm.  White through to grey-brown or a mixture of both and becoming marked with black.  Glutinous. STIPE: White streaked with brownish lines and possessing a yellowish base.  When young prone to exuding red droplets. GILLS/PORES: White becoming greyish and eventually darker.  Widely spaced and decurrent. FLESH: White but reddening throughout and eventually becoming black. SPORES: Blackish, subfusiform. HABITAT: In small loose groups under Larch. SEASON: Occassional.  Late summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible but not recommended.
